Vontier Senior Embedded Linux Engineer in Auckland, New Zealand

As a key member of our global R&D team, you will be based in Rosedale, Auckland and be instrumental in the success of our new project. You will work with the wider Hardware Engineering team and focus on the design and development of a reliable and robust embedded Linux platform for Teletrac Navman.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

You will assume technical responsibility for the development of an embedded Linux platform and application code, from design to delivery. You will also support the Director of Hardware Engineering in driving product innovation.

To break it down, you will:

  • Provide Linux architectural leadership.

  • Build Linux root file systems, distributions and releases.

  • Maintain existing products, including bug fixes and feature enhancements.

  • Produce high quality technical designs and specifications.

  • Design and implement embedded Linux drivers, taking into account performance and power management requirements.

  • Promote and drive a passionate customer-focused culture by ensuring a strong focus on delivery, execution and the customer.

So if YOU are an Embedded Linux Engineer with 7+ years of experience in application development, including POSIX IPC, and seeking the next step in your career, we want to hear from you!

The technical skills we see as critical to succeed in this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.

  • Experience in C, Python and bash.

  • Experience with SoC embedded Linux BSP, device drivers (I2C, SPI etc.) and Linux networking (UDP, TCP, HTTP, OpenSSL).
